Elain Harwood - Space, Hope and Brutalism (EN)

Elain Harwood is a senior architectural investigator at Historic England, the state-sponsored institution for architectural preservation. She invested 18 years of research in her book "Space, Hope and Brutalism: English Architecture 1945-1975", which documents the architecture of Great Britain in the era of post-war reconstruction. Her talk provides insights into the history of Brutalism and ist primary construction material: concrete. She will also discuss the newfound appreciation for this unique architectural style and the role of exposed concrete in building today.
